The Boost Support Hub

Information and guidance sources for women

Boost is proud to signpost a range of further support that you may find useful, especially at a time of transition, direction change or a complete renaissance.

An important note from Boost

The Boost Women’s Support Hub has been created to signpost women towards independent professionals, services and resources that may be helpful when they are facing a crossroads, navigating change or seeking guidance on wider personal, professional or wellbeing issues.

Please note that Boost does not receive any commission, referral fee or other financial benefit from the individuals or organisations listed. All services are entirely independent of Boost, and inclusion on the Support Hub does not constitute a formal recommendation or guarantee. We encourage you to consider carefully if a service is right for you and to make your own enquiries.

Our aim is to help you to discover sources of support that you may not otherwise have known were available.

Breast Cancer and Cold Cap Experience

Cassie Harrison, All The Breast

A breast cancer diagnosis brings many challenges, and for many women, the thought of losing their hair can be one of the most emotional. Cassie Harrison understands this first-hand, having worn a cold cap throughout her own cancer treatment. As co-founder of Herizen (see below), she is passionate about helping women feel informed, supported and less alone.

If you’re considering cold capping or would simply like to connect with someone who has lived the experience, Cassie shares her journey and offers encouragement through her Instagram community. In her own words, “Sometimes the greatest comfort comes from hearing from someone who’s walked the same path.”

Please note: Cassie offers support from her own lived experience but is not providing medical advice. If you are undergoing cancer treatment, please speak to your oncology team about whether cold capping is suitable for you.

Career change, redundancy and loss of identity

Kate Gerald, K.A.G Recruitment Consulting

We understand that feeling confident in how you present yourself can transform the way you face the world. Your hair may help you feel polished and more like yourself, but when you’re at a career crossroads, that confidence also needs to come from recognising your experience, strengths and professional value.

Kate Gerald’s By Your Side service supports women who are returning to work, considering a career change, seeking promotion or feeling uncertain about what comes next. Through personalised, one-to-one sessions, Kate and the K.A.G. Recruitment team can help you clarify your direction, strengthen your CV and LinkedIn presence, prepare for interviews and communicate what you have to offer with confidence. Email Kate today to arrange a free 30-minute discovery call.

Confidence and knowing your worth

Julia Bend, Premier Coaching

Hair can be deeply connected to how a woman sees herself. When it begins to thin or change through illness, hormonal changes or a new stage of life, the impact can go far beyond appearance. A woman may still be experienced, capable and successful, yet no longer feel quite like herself. She may become more conscious of being photographed, speaking in a meeting or walking into a room where she knows she will be noticed. This is not vanity. How we feel about our appearance can affect how confidently we allow ourselves to be seen.

As an Executive Career Transition Coach, Julia works with women in senior and corporate roles during these periods of change. Coaching offers a confidential space to understand what has shifted, reconnect with what matters and decide what comes next. She also has an award-winning podcast, The Secrets of Learning and Development. Check it out now.

Diabetes, Thyroid and Nutritional Concerns

Alice Yeates, Alice Yeates Nutrition

Many of our clients come to see us because they have experienced hair loss, hair shedding or hair thinning, but struggle to find an explanation. This can be really frustrating.

Alice Yeates is a BANT Registered Nutritional Therapist, Naturopath and Behaviour Change Coach. Before moving into nutritional therapy, she worked as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse. Alice works with women who feel tired, stuck or not quite themselves, helping them to explore the wider picture behind their symptoms. She helps you to understand what may be happening within your body, so that it can help you feel more informed and supported. If you are experiencing hair thinning alongside fatigue, thyroid symptoms or other changes in your health, get in touch for an initial chat about how Alice may be able to help.

Menopause and perimenopause symptoms

Laura Robillard & Cassie Harrison, Herizen App

Hair thinning during menopause is often just one part of a much bigger picture. There can be many physical, but also emotional symptoms during this time. There is also an overwhelming amount of information and advice now available. This is why we really like the idea of the Herizen app.

Herizen provides trusted, evidence-based support to help women understand the hormonal changes affecting their health, confidence and wellbeing. Owners, Cassie and Laura, have a mission to help women feel “calmer, more informed and less alone”, through expert guidance and a supportive community. Do check out all that the platform has to offer.

Self-help support for women

Dr Giselle Goodwin

Giselle’s identification of “Women’s Third Job” really resonated with us. It’s about the work of living in a female body – the social world’s expectations of how we look after, maintain and present our own bodies…and the time and commitment this takes. One of the main aims of Boost is to help women to save time – having the appearance they want without the hassle, so a lot of what Giselle says about this really resonates.

Dr Goodwin spent 20 years building, co-founding, and selling three businesses – two in healthcare and one in recruitment. After exiting those companies, she decided to go back to university and completed a PhD on women entrepreneurs and wellbeing. The research inspired her book, Can Women Really Have it All? – exploring the fascinating intersection of women, work, happiness, and health. Visit the website to learn more about Giselle, her books and to take the ‘Third Job Audit’. Find out what your invisible labour is costing you.
